Convergence weekly blog 11 (11-29-2017)

Hi every one this is James. Well I'm back for my weekly blog post and I hope everyone had a good thanksgiving. Here's the link to the article I found. http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/28/americas/argentina-submarine/index.html

Now I think the reporter did a good job explaining the headline in the opening paragraph. along with providing a brief summary of the story in the opening paragraph. I also like how the reporter was able to give the exact times of these events along with. the fact that the reporter explained some of the terms used in the article.

I do however, think there are a few things the reporter could have done better.I would have liked to know the exact date when this information was released from the Argentine military. I also would have liked to see a plan for the future in the conclusion paragraph of the article.

I will make sure to. include the exact date of which the information. I write about is included in the articles I write. As well as include a plan. for the future in. my articles.

On. December first the convergence journalism class I'm in will be heading to Fox 4 news. I'm hoping Fox 4 will. allow us to get a behind the scenes view of their work  along with the ability to take  look at their equipment.

I hope every one had a good thanksgiving.

Convergence weekly blog 10

Hi every one this is James. Sorry about the delay, I will resume posting next week and my next post will be on time. Well time for my review here's the link http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/20/world/first-interstellar-object-solar-system/index.html

I thought the headline was structured well and it was able to get my attention.  I also thought the opening paragraph did a good job summarizing the article. I also think the reporter did a good job explaining what was found.

some things I thought the reporter could have done better were that fact that the article doesn't really specify how it was determined that this object is not from our solar system. also the article doesn't really specify how astronomers  are preparing to find more objects like this.

I will take sure I get all of the information I need for my articles.  Also,  I will make sure to. get a plan. for the future in the articles I write.

Convergence weekly blog 8

Hi everyone this is James. Well time for my weekly blog heres the link to. the article http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/31/health/puerto-rico-water-epa-superfund-test-results/index.html

The lead paragraph was able to get my attention. I also like how the article listed the names of the chemicals in. the waiter along with what can happen if you consume these chemicals. I also like the fact that the reporter was able to explain the head line of the article.

I would however liked to see more quotes from people who have had to drink from these wells. Along with a plan for the future if these chemicals were to become more concentrated. I would also like to know if other wells were affected and if so what the consequences will be.

I will make sure to get all the information I need for the project I'm working on with some one else in class. Also, I will be sure to get both sides of the story for my articles. I. have been. the leader in class by showing another student how to use the sound board, along with finding what we need to fix the studio lights.

Convergence journalism weekly blog 7

Hi every one this is James. Well I'm back for my weekly blog post here's the link to the article http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/24/health/houston-flood-flesh-eating-bacteria-kills-man-bn/index.html

Well the headline was able to get my attention,  I also thought the opening paragraph was structured well I also like how the reporter listed quotes from doctors who have treated this illness before, along with the fact that the reporter was able to get quotes from the family that was affected. also, I thought it was a good idea to list how this disease spreads.

I personally however, would have licked to. see the full scientific name of the illness since there are a few different bacteria that can cause this. I also would have licked to see more quotes from survivors. Overall I think the reporter did a good job.

I will make sure I get all the information I need for my news stories, along with getting enough quotes from both sides of the story. I have used my time in class to work on Raven Minute along with figuring out inter view times for a project I'm working on with the help of another student.

convergence journalism weekly blog 6

Hi every one this is James well time for my weekly blog I have put the link to the article I found in this post. http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/10/us/california-wildfire-by-the-numbers/index.html

Well I  think the reporter did a good job writing the article in  a way  that keeps your attention. I also like how the reporter used statics  to  give us the information  we need. I also think the headline does a good job giving you a quick summary of the article.

I do however, think  the  reporter could have gotten some quotes from people who were  affected but don't get me wrong wild fire is extremely dangerous. Also, while I do  think a bullet list format was a good idea for this type of article I do think the ending seemed a bit rushed as a result of this.

I will make sure my articles In  the future do not feel rushed at the end and I will  make sure to get both sides of the story. I have collaborated in  class to help get ONW Now  set up recently as well  as get a new computer connected to the teleprompters.

Convergence journalism weekly blog 5

Hi everyone this is James. Well I'm back for my weekly blog post, here's the link to the article.  http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/08/us/hurricane-nate-landfall/index.html

Now some things I think the reporter did well are the fact that the lead paragraph gives you the information you need to  understand the rest of the story. I also  think the reporter did a good job explaining the headline. another thing the reporter did well was the fact that the article answers the who, what, when, where and why questions.

I do  however, think the article was some what long. I also  think  the reporter could have gotten some quotes from people who were rescued to show a broader range  of how people felt that were effected by the hurricane.

I will make sure to get both sides of  the story when I'm reporting on  a subject. I will also check  to  be sure the articles I write don't appear to long. some ways I have collaborated in class are the fact that I collaborated  with the rest of the production  crew to get ONW Now complete along with the fact that I collaborated with  the sports information class to help with  a foot ball broadcast.
